And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost [Spirit], and began to speak with other tongues, as the ‘Spirit’ gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Acts 2:3-8
A childhood friend and I were waiting inside for our mothers while they shopped in JCPenney at South DeKalb Mall one evening. We were playing tag around a couple of mannequins doing what 8-year-old boys due when bored. While we were horse playing two women who were shopping in that same area where we were at began speaking in a strange language, it was strange to us because the only place we have heard sounds similar to it was from the cartoon called Charlie Brown when he would be speaking to someone on the other side of the phone call.
It was a language we never heard before outside of our own, so our full attention was now focused on those two women who were having a conversation in their native tongue while shopping. Now, those who may have been military babies who traveled along with their parents or grew up in major cities like California, Chicago, New York and Florida may be quite familiar with classmates or friends they may have known who could speak two or more languages. Georgia’s population in the early 80’s was not as diverse as it is today, but she has always been a major hub for transportation. Moreover, in our vague minds we had no inclination that we live in a world where people spoken all different languages other than the one, we were custom too at that time, English.
I oftentimes ponder on the term Semitic which describe a language and how it has evolved to become identifiable to a certain group of people. It is like saying all English-speaking people follow Yeshua (Jesus). However, the Bible does talk about languages or tongues but not in a sense of big eye or little you. Ample studies have been conducted throughout the world by anthropologist concerning the origin of customs and languages our ancestors may have practiced. I believed all this information is hiding in scripture to those who have the gift to behold it.
So, what happen when Yahweh (the Lord) confounded the people’s languages? The bible says the Lord scattered them aboard upon the face of the earth. We all have learned that are of age that the continent of Africa is where everything concerning life began. In Genesis chapter (10) we see that every nation of people was given their own tongues, and moreover were still able to understand each other’s language. A good example of this is the pronunciation of mommy or mom it is a universal word that is understood by most if not all languages.
- “By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.” Genesis 10:5
- These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.” Genesis 10:20
- “These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.” Genesis 10:31
- “These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.” Genesis 10:32
The Hebrew number ten means assembly or congregation we see this plainly that Noah and his three sons and their families knew the oral law and worship practices of ONE Elohim (God) after Ham uncovered his father’s nakedness and Shem and Japheth walk backwards to cover Noah’s nakedness. What directions did Shem and Japheth follow? It is written: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4, Romans 11:36) When these great nations were divided it does not mean they were at odds with one another like we see so much of today. They were one because many of these great world wonders needed wood and other raw materials from other parts of the regions that enable them to build these amazing structures that we so much see today. Furthermore, before their languages became confused it is written that after the flood in the days of Peleg the earth was divided or split, not the people being divide. If they were divided in their thoughts, there would not be any need to confound their languages to protect the Messianic message of Salvation that must be proclaim to all nations. I always wondered why ¾ of the earth from Italy to Mexico we can find Pyramid type structure built similar to the Pyramid of Giza. Maybe this can be contributed to their being one understanding of language before the nations became scattered; nevertheless, taken with them the application process they learn as one building pyramids. So, race relations had nothing to do with the nations coming together, but the ideology that taken root in their HEARTS did. Have you examined the ideology you deemed good in your heart when a Tower of Babel is being built around you? “Blessed is that man that makes the Lord his trust, and respects not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.” Psalms 40:4, 89:15; 1:1
Here in Genesis 11, we see the beginning of Babel in its simplest term means CONFUSION. Nimrod’s mother and wife Semiramis desired to be the ‘queen of heaven’ and so it was. Her name has changed throughout the ages depending on which nation’s tongue her name is spoken. There is only one ‘queen of heaven’ a that topic is very delicate, and must be taught with the highest regard because blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is an unforgivable sin. “The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.” (Jeremiah 7:18; 44:17-19; 25)
“And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.” -Genesis 11:1 Now here we have a nation of people that all spoken different tongues by which they could all understand each another being one accord. It seemed to be a foreshadow of the utopia to come when the Messiah (Christ) returns. Zechariah pens. “And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.” David writes, “For God is the King of all the earth…” Paul writes, “One Lord, One Faith and One baptism.” So, what was the problem?
Is this not the beginning of confusion that sat at the gate of Elohim (God). Now the Tower of Babel was a layer spiral shape temple structure unlike any structure built of its kind. The building process was not the problem it was the coming together to rewrite and confuse the name that pointed to the messianic message, that was laid out in heaven called the ‘lively way’ or ‘orderly arrangements’ which is the Greek word ‘cosmos’ “The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.” -Psalms 115:16
Noah’s Granddaughter Semiramis wanted their name if not hers to be remember people came together not to lift up Yahweh’s name, but Nimrods. In Genesis (10) we see the assembly or the oneness now but in Genesis (11) we witness the disorder and confusion. Those who have eyes to see, will see that Yahweh always desired for us to make our own choice rather to choose babel or the lively way for it is written: “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” -1 Corinthians 14:33 So, if we follow Yahweh’s (The Lord) plan to work out our salvation with fear and trembling we are walking in obedience according to the mercy he has bestowed upon each one us concerning our spiritual gifts, which is able to build up the body of CHRIST. We will be at peace and oneness with Christ for it is written: And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18; John 1:42)

To them who have lost hope or lost their way to the saving grace of Yahweh’s (the Lord) abundant mercy. We Pray this day that you call upon repentance so that your crooked path can be made straight unto the day of regeneration.
All my life Yahweh has place me around Kings and Queens beautiful women who would not hesitate to get out and witness the word of God’ s love to a crowd of young men standing on a block in front of Georgia Baptist Hospital, the now closed Atlanta Medical Center. Kings from every walk of life, and two of them with in the last 4 years showed me how to love the name of Yeshua (Jesus) by His word. One of their names mean ‘God is with us’, and the other who is now deceased name means ‘witness, guard‘ both out of Macon, Ga taught me how to let the bible interpret itself.
I can remember going out in 2010 with a mighty Evangelist name Perrier, he would pull up in a big white van and being of Hattian descent, we would visit many Creole-French speaking churches throughout Atlanta. He literally ran the shoes off my feet, he would speak to the assembly in his native tongue and I would read scriptures in English. I received it with all joy even though the only tongue I learn during that time was how to say Praise God! in Creole, Beni swa Letènel!
How much so, we all know that every tongue will confess the name rather you call Him by his native name Yeshua or by another tongue Isa, Iēsous, Jesús, Jesus, Iisus, but as long as you carry the seal that came alone with His NAME, the gate of confusion will not prevail. A young man by the name of Akita in 2011 who is from Russia learned five different African tongues within one year’s time and spoken it very fluently. One day we were talking, and I ask him was he ever bullied while growing up, he looked and said yes, “how did you know?” I shared with him that he had always had the gift of tongues, but his true learning ability was repressed because he was being bullied at the time.
The adversary is a bully Satan life sucks because the tik of the clock is counting down while always, not sometime, but always desiring you to regress so that you put away your spiritual gift(s) to build and grow and multiply the Kingdom of Heaven within yourself first. Satan will use everything around you to be against you because, he knows his gates cannot prevail against an unadulterated faith. Daivd said, you are at rest in green pastures the leads you beside still water. Yahweh’s green pastures will not lead you to a cesspool of ongoing confusion.
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: thou anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” -Psalms 23
It behooves me that many are mocking sincere believers today like I once did as a child; and while not fully understanding that this world is full of people who speak many different tongues. We cannot become uncomfortable when people speak in unknown language outside of our own. But one should become uncomfortable when listening and watching believers be led to speak in strange fire, we all are guilty of this foolishness. It is very easy to get off track but if you resist the devil, he will flee. (James 4:7, Ephesians 4:27) The Hebrew word mock is laugh this is what Sarah done when the angel of the Lord said, “she would bring forth a child in her old age”. It is said that Issacs who name means laughter is a type of end time Church; therefore, we will be laugh at, all day long. But Yeshua (Jesus) reminds us, “Blessed are they which are persecute for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:10; 1 Peter 3:14)
